Appalachian Family Festival at PPL, April 6
About 100 patrons of all ages--2 to ??? enjoyed an afternoon of music, stories, crafts and square dancing at Providence Public Library's Wishing You Well at PPL Appalachian Family Festival on Sunday, April 6th. Dulcimer music, songs and stories were provided by Rosanne Trissler, Media Specialist at LaSalle Academy. The children made their own dulcimers using cigar boxes and rubber bands. Bonnie Lilienthal, PPL's Children's Librarian read aloud folk tales from Appalachia for all gathered in the Children's Room. Later on, Michelle Kaminsky entertained with fiddle music, using a fiddle she made herself. Children and adults alike enjoyed square dancing led by Michelle. Several participants won prizes drawn from our wishing well and provided by committee members and local merchants.
Book Promotional Night in Chepachet, March 7
On March 7th, twenty-five young and old readers braved the wintry weather and joined Lt. Governor Charles Fogarty at the Glocester Manton Library in Chepachet for a Book Promotional Night. Refreshments and copies of Wish You Well were provided by Project LEARN Adult and Family Literacy Programs.
