Video Conference, Friday May 7, featuring author, Sue Monk Kidd
The live videoconference will take place at about 11:00 a.m. with a thirty-minute presentation and then an additional 30 minutes of questions from the other active sites. This will be an opportunity to hear the author speak on her writing and the development of the plot and characters of "The Secret Life of Bees." Tolman High School of Pawtucket has graciously offered to host the author in their school library. (Friday, May 7, 2004 from 11:00 to 12 noon.)
At this time we are inviting schools and libraries around the state who are technically capable of participating in this videoconference to join in as either “active” or “view-only” participants. In short, active participation will allow the audience to ask questions in a give & take format; the ‘view-only’ participants would be able to see and hear the author, but not ask questions.
If you are interested in taking part in this exciting opportunity, please me the following info as soon as possible:
1. Name of location (school or library):
2. ‘Active?’ Or ‘View-only?’
3. Contact info (name, phone & email)
4. Approximate size of your anticipated audience
5. Will you be inviting other guests? (other schools, senior centers or community groups)
Note: This opportunity is offered on a first come, first served basis. The number of slots for participation is limited to six active sites and seven view-only sites, so please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in taking part in this videoconference.
I will compile the list of interested schools and libraries, and be in touch with the details as we draw closer to the actual date.
