Shadow Divers is Robert Kurson's first book. He is an award winning writer for Rolling Stone magazine, The New York Times magazine and other publications. Robert Kurson earned a bachelorís degree in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin, then a law degree from Harvard Law School. After working as a features reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago magazine, he moved to Esquire as a contributing editor. Today Robert Kurson lives in the Chicago suburbs. Richie Kohler is an experienced wreck diver and shipwreck historian who has been diving since his teens. His early diving experiences included spear fishing, tropical fish collecting and cave diving in Florida. In 1980, Kohler moved to the New York City area, and began diving shipwrecks, leading to his involvement in the hunt for the identity of the wreck found off the coast of New Jersey. He has worked with museums, maritime institutions, dive shops and schools and the US Naval Academy to promote maritime history and responsible wreck diving. He has made over 118 explorative dives to the wreck of the Andrea Doria off the coast of Nantucket, a nd continues to offer his expertise dives taking place all over the world. John Chatterton is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain, and holds numerous commercial, scuba, and rebreather diving certifications. Currently, he is co-hosting the Deep Sea Detectives television series for the History Channel with his long time diving partner and friend, Richie Kohler, where they have completed more than 50 episodes for the series. He is also a consultant to both the film and television industries. Prior to this, John spent more than twenty years working as a commercial diver in and around New York City, and was actually working underneath the World Financial Center, across the street from the Tower #1, on 9/11/01.
